The EP Te Ao Māori course is designed for beginner and intermediate level learners of all ages. It covers a number of kaupapa ako or learning topics within specific Kete Kōrero. Each module contains key vocabulary, listening and reading comprehension, writing and speaking activities. Ākonga will develop a strong foundation and understanding of Te Reo Māori and general Tikanga while also exploring key events such as Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Matariki. Our courses are regularly updated based on user feedback with new learning material added frequently.
Our EP Te Ao Māori for home course is designed for adult learners, professionals, parents and tamariki who are learning independently. This course provides additional kaupapa Māori tuition for all participants either alongside a structured programme at school – where EP is not being utilised – or as a stand alone language learning programme for home or workplace professional development.
The Education Perfect platform supports and promotes the acquisition of beginner to intermediate working knowledge of Te Ao Māori (The Māori World) to assist ākonga (students) of all ages to confidently develop a deeper understanding of general tikanga (customary values and practices), common kupu (vocabulary) & their pronunciation, kīanga (phrases) and how to use this mātauranga (knowledge) in everyday life.
The platform offers a large library of scaffolded content which supports the New Zealand Curriculum alongside rich data and insights which create a powerful toolkit for teachers to deliver a differentiated and personalised learning experience across student learning, revision, and assessment. Teachers do not need to have an in-depth knowledge of Te Reo Māori and Tikanga to facilitate this student course. Our EP smart lessons are carefully designed to guide students without the need of a specialist teacher.
Teachers who also wish to formally upskill in this area can enrol as students in our Te Ao Māori for Teachers professional development course. Our Teachers’ course is designed to develop teachers’ confidence and essential knowledge of Te Reo Māori, Tikanga and important cultural events as well as assist them in meeting their obligations under the Practising Teacher Criteria of New Zealand.
