EP Italian offers a full online course for learners of Italian, both primary and secondary. Lessons, which are fully customisable by teachers, are arranged in topic-based units. EP smart lessons introduce key vocabulary and grammatical structures, cultural elements and listening, reading, writing and speaking activities that combine to provide comprehensive practice and reinforcement. Teachers are able to create their own lessons for students in Italian, using their own content, within the EP smart lesson platform. EP Italian, which can be used by students from Year 3 to Year 12, supports the Australian curriculum for all states and various international curricula including IGCSE and IB.

Students can use the EP Italian smart lesson platform independently from home. Parents are able to assign tasks and then track their children’s progress. EP Italian smart lessons consist of clear information sections created to teach the necessary vocabulary for each unit, followed then by a progressive structure of automatically marked knowledge check activities. The instant feedback and guidance provided by automatic marking enables students to monitor their own progress and then put into practice different skills.

EP Italian students are also able to work independently on their pronunciation and then compare their pronunciation to that of a native speaker. EP Italian content within the smart lesson platform is also continually updated and developed in line with feedback and consultation so that the highest level of efficacy is achieved.

EP Italian can be used in the home environment to either support classroom learning or it may also be used by young people who are interested in studying Italian outside of the school environment.

EP Italian is very flexible and can be used to support an Italian teaching programme in many ways. It can be used to replace a textbook or alongside a textbook and can also be used to set up a flipped classroom or a blended learning environment. The EP Italian programme provides unparalleled data which allows teachers to track student progress and provide meaningful feedback.

EP Italian offers many different formative and summative assessment opportunities. The smart lesson platform provides both pre-built assessments and the option for teachers to create their own assessment tasks. A number of teacher resources are also available including listening transcripts, unit outlines, curriculum alignment documentation and ideas for implementing the smart lesson platform.
