Education Perfect (EP) is thrilled to announce that the 2024 EP World Languages Championship (EPLC) will kick off this week, running from 7-14th May, 2024!

This event brings together students and teachers from across the globe to celebrate the joy of language learning. When I was a French teacher and HOD Languages, the EPLC was an annual highlight for my students. They loved that they could practise their French while also exploring other languages. As a teacher, I loved the EPLC because it elevated the importance of language learning in a fun, engaging way for the entire school community.

In 2023, EP had over 800,000 students participating in the EPLC from 2,500 global schools. During the EPLC’s seven-day duration, 79,400,000 questions were answered across several languages, including French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, Italian and many more.

The EPLC is all about celebrating the learning of all students. EP aims to make language learning accessible and exciting for all learners, and this competition recognises all students’ success and achievement.

Why is language learning so important? Learning a second language offers a multitude of benefits to students.

Here are just a few:

  • Cognitive Development: Enhances problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.
  • Improved Academic Performance: Boosts literacy, numeracy, and overall academic achievement.
  • Cultural Awareness: Fosters appreciation, empathy, and respect for diversity.
  • Enhanced Communication Skills: Develops listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities.
  • Global Citizenship: Engages with the global community and promotes peace and cooperation.
  • Economic Opportunities: Opens doors to future career prospects in various sectors.
  • Lifelong Learning: Lays a foundation for continued language acquisition and personal growth.
  • Social Benefits: Encourage social interaction, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Enhanced Travel Experiences: Enables deeper interactions with locals, aids understanding cultural nuances, and helps them to navigate unfamiliar situations more comfortably.

All students with an active EP licence across Australia, New Zealand and in International Schools will automatically be entered into the 2024 EPLC. For more information on the EPLC, please click here
