- Education Perfect has launched new EQAO-style assessments to support teachers and students in Ontarioย
- The platform uses authentic EQAO-style questions, providing students with immediate feedback and teachers with actionable insightsย
- This approach helps familiarize students with the EQAO format and reduces assessment anxiety
Education Perfect (EP), a KKR-backed global education technology provider, has announced the launch of an innovative new platform for schools in Ontario providing additional support for students preparing for Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) assessments.ย
There have been various reforms to Ontarioโs education curriculum in recent years, with the introduction of a new mathematics curriculum in 2020 and a recent government initiative to reform the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requirements.ย
However, the most recent EQAO results show that Ontario studentsโ math and literacy scores did not see a major improvement over the last year. Educators in Ontario must now consider how to foster a cycle of continuous improvement in schools to boost overall assessment outcomes.
EPโs new functionality offers a unique form of EQAO assessment support in schools. Designed to align with the EQAO framework, the platform provides a comprehensive suite of tools to help teachers deliver differentiated instruction and improve student learning outcomes. It is fully aligned with the Ontario Curriculum and EQAOโs assessment blueprint, ensuring that students and teachers are aligned with current curriculum requirements.
EPโs platform will be home to a range of new assessments offering a variety of question types that closely reflects the official EQAO assessments. These EQAO-style assessments instantly identify individual student knowledge gaps, provide supports to address misconceptions and enable teachers to quickly intervene with personalized gap-closing to boost student outcomes.
The new feature provides actionable insights for teachers by student, class and cohort, allowing teachers to assess students at both a school and district level. Succinctly summarized student insights also help teachers with parent reporting, enabling more effective communication and collaboration between teachers and parents.
Research has shown that between 25% to 40% of students experience some form of test anxiety, which often arises when students are, or feel, unprepared for exams. By exposing students to EQAO-style questions and enabling self-paced learning, EPโs approach can help reduce assessment anxiety and enhance their overall test practice experience.ย
Jonathan Morgan, CEO of Education Perfect, says: โThe launch of our EQAO-style assessment platform underscores our goal to support educators in Ontario and help every student reach their full potential. By aligning with the EQAO framework and the Ontario Curriculum, our specialized platform provides the tools teachers need to deliver differentiated instruction and maximize student outcomes. Together, with educators and parents, we are committed to transforming the way students learn and succeed.โ
