Meet Nikita

Hey everyone! I’m Nikita, the Marketing Operations Manager at EP. It’s coming up to my 3 year anniversary of working here and I can’t believe how fast the time has gone! I was born and raised in Dunedin, which is also great knowing that EP started here so many years ago. I love travelling, gymming and learning new things; currently attempting to sew!

I studied Sociology and Criminology at the University of Otago as my initial plan was to become a Police woman. After I completed my studies, I applied for a temp role at EP while I began organising the application process. Things went well at EP and I found I really enjoyed working in a company that was having such a positive impact on others. I plan on being here for the long run!

A day in the EP life

I’m lucky to be able to work closely with our Head of Operations, Emma McAllister. She helps to manage and oversee the projects I’m working on and plenty of our work crosses over which means we are always needing to keep each other in the loop with any updates or changes. I also work within an amazing Events Team. There are 7 of us in total and most of us are new to our roles this year. It’s a great team to work with and we’re continuing to learn and develop in our roles together.

A lot of my role consists of coordinating and scheduling email campaigns to generate leads and keep existing customers up-to-date with our content and platform releases. Currently we’re using a tool that we made internally many years ago and are now on the lookout for a new email tool. We’re after something that is able to provide us with simplified email scheduling and improved data analytics. There’s a lot involved with ensuring we find the right tool that meets our needs and also a lot of testing that will need to happen!

Favourite features of EP platform

I love the reporting capabilities that our platform provides and how much information it can give to a teacher on an individual and class level. Teachers are able to analyse students’ strengths and development areas and from there, assign tasks recommended by the system. On an individual reporting level, teachers have the ability to see how many times a student attempted a single question, recent activity, accuracy percentage per task and question and number of questions answered; the list goes on!

It is also a great tool for teachers to use in parent-teachers interviews as it presents a comprehensive overview of the students’ progress throughout the year and across multiple subject areas.

Any stories to share?

We love receiving feedback of all types – the good, the bad and the ugly! Of course, I enjoy reading all the positive feedback and hearing how much EP has impacted our students and teachers. A few of my favourite feedback pieces are below:

“My students are really enjoying using EdPerfect. It’s the perfect companion to my own teaching style. I like using it for catch up work, revision, or even just a lesson every now and then. The data is really informative and has transformed my teaching.” – Kymberley Hogan from Girton Grammar School

“I simply cannot stress enough how beneficial Education Perfect Languages is to my life as a teacher, and to my students’ learning. It has saved me so much planning and resource creation time. It is a data tracking tool allowing for self, peer and teacher assessment, both formative and summative and it is a great platform for differentiation. This year I am replacing textbooks for all year levels (year 8-13 French) with Education Perfect. Best of all, my students love it! Happy students, happy teacher.” – Emma Craw, formerly from Aquinas College, NZ (now one of our own EPeeps!)

Most excited about

Definitely the fact that we’re now making our way into the international market. Even in the short time I’ve been here, it’s been crazy to see how rapidly we’ve scaled within New Zealand and Australia and how readily placed we are to explore elsewhere. We now have a setup in Singapore and are wanting to eventually expand this. We have a lot of challenges ahead but it’s great knowing that we’re all working hard to really push it forward.

EP in three

  1. Online learning and assessment platform that’s aligned to multiple curricula
  2. Saves teachers invaluable amounts of time with marking/reporting and caters to different learning styles to help improve student learning outcomes
  3. Behind the scenes there’s a lovely, fun, hardworking team that are all working towards a shared goal of helping students and teachers

Secret talent

It’s not going to be a secret anymore, but if I have to share, I did Marching for 9 years. I can confidently say that if you need someone to walk in a straight line with perfect form, I’m your go-to person.

I love where I’m at and the promising future of EP. The power of technology continues to amaze me and prior to my studies, I didn’t imagine I would be working for a fast-paced tech company. For anyone wanting to follow along on our journey, follow our socials!
