EPeeps Dana Sasot | Marketing Designer

Tell us a bit about yourself!

Hello! I’m Dana (she/her), a Marketing Designer at EP based in the Philippines. I first joined EP in December of 2018 as an Enrolment Assistant and have changed roles a couple of times since then. After seven months, I moved on to the then Community and Engagement Team as an Events Assistant. In this space, I started helping out in building web pages, creating marketing collaterals, and designing assets for social media. Eventually, I officially became a designer as a part of our brand new Creative Team.

I absolutely love going on camping and road trips with my family. It’s like (or quite literally) a breath of fresh air for me. I wasn’t fond of going on long journeys as a kid, but now as an adult, I find delight in just sitting in a car listening to music or having a laugh with my family in front of a lake while viewing the beautiful nature of our country. My sisters and I also enjoy cafe hunting during road trips! But I must admit that I do have a love-hate relationship with coffee/caffeine because of the palpitations it gives me, LOL. I’m very much into yogurt-based drinks lately, though!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I think one of the best parts of being a designer is that I get to use my creativity and execute the vision I have in my mind through the designs I make, and it’s always very satisfying for me to see the final output. I enjoy doing designs during my free time, as it has always been my thing even before I started working at EP, so having the chance to do it as a part of my job has been quite therapeutic!

What has been your biggest challenge?

I’d say when I first joined EP? It was technically my first job, and I was the youngest in the team. The culture, environment, and people were a whole new world for me. It was a little overwhelming for a timid and introverted person like myself, and I think English, not being my first language, was a factor too. I doubted I’d be able to adapt and adjust to the unfamiliar setting but luckily, EP has been incredibly welcoming and supportive. I always say this, and I’m gonna say it again: EPeeps are the best people I’ll ever work with in this lifetime!

Where is somewhere you’d like to visit?

I’d choose New Zealand, but that would be too predictable and obvious! So, I’d say Japan instead. Haha. My late mom lived in Japan for a few years when she was younger, but she never really got to tell me about it. I’ve seen tons of her pictures when she was there, but that was it! For that reason, I would love to see what Japan is like myself and go to the places my mom has been—somehow relive the moments that I’ve only seen through photographs.

What advice would you pass on to a younger version of yourself?

Take it easy. There will be moments when you’ll find yourself in a difficult position. To encounter unfortunate circumstances in your life is inevitable, but remember that it’s okay to ask for help. You don’t have to know everything at such a young age. Through these difficulties, you will learn to be more empathetic and giving, which will be a good thing. Always offer your help to someone who needs it when you can.
